Rand Symphony Orchestra Gala Performance featuring Willem de Beer

Willem de Beer piano
Last chance to experience soloist Willem de Beer performing Tchaikovsky’s fabulous Piano concerto No. 1 before he heads back to the US.

The Rand Symphony Orchestra are  proud to present their 2018 Gala Performance featuring Willem de Beer and conducted by Carel Henn.  Described as “mature beyond his age” and a “…bright and shining star in the firmament of the South African music scene,” by newspaper Beeld, Willem de Beer is quickly becoming one of the foremost South African concert pianists.

Willem has attended master classes with various celebrated international artists in South Africa and abroad. During 2014, Willem received his BMus cum laude under the guidance of Professor Joseph Stanford. Willem has been featured on several television programmes in South Africa and recordings of his playing is often broadcast on radio by stations RSG and ClassicFm;  Willem recently completed a Master’s degree under the guidance of Dr. Bryan Wallick. As of August 2018, Willem will pursue a second Master’s degree in Austin, Texas under the guidance of Professor Anton Nel.

The concert will also include Beethoven’s beautiful Overture to Fidelio and an exciting selection from George Bizet’s wonderful Carmen Suites 1 & 2.

We look forward to spending an inspirational afternoon with you, in the company of Beethoven, Bizet and Tchaikovsky!
