Dear Concert Connect supporter

As the end of 2020 draws near, we would like to thank you for your ongoing support! This has been a challenging year, no doubt, but we are motivated to keep the music going. We are presenting two more concerts to look forward to: Zorada Temmingh in a live organ concert on 22 November and A Carnival with Gloria Bosman on 4 December to be streamed from 11-16 December

Zorada Temmingh will present a live organ concert on 22 November 2020 at 15:00 from the magnificent Moederkerk in Stellenbosch. For the first time, Concerts Connect will present this concert to a live audience in Moederkerk as well as stream the concert live to an online audience in real time.

Zorada Temmingh is considered one of South Africa’s foremost organ improvisers. In addition to being the first South African to release a CD with organ improvisations, she was also the first to do soundtrack improvisations for silent movies. Zorada will present a programme of her own improvisations on well-known and much-loved Christmas Carols. The programme will also include a Partita on ‘God is Liefde’ (God is Love) and ‘The Hunchback Suite’ which contains the main themes from her soundtrack improvisation for the silent movie “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”.

Tickets are available through Quicket. Purchase your ticket to either the in-person live performance at Moederkerk (R150 adults | R120 pensioners) or the online livestream performance (R100 per device) by selecting the appropriate ticket category. Both the live in-person and online concert will start at 15:00. The livestream will be available for 72 hours from the start of the concert.

In partnership with the Cape Town Concert Series and AdMakers International, we are proud to present A Carnival with Gloria Bosman in support of The Children’s Hospital Trust. A Black Tie Live Concert will take place on 4 December 2020 at 18:00 at the offices of AdMakers International in Mowbray. The concert will be available for streaming from 11-16 December 2020.

Half of all proceeds from the Black Tie Live Concert and the online concert go towards supporting The Children’s Hospital Trust in the upgrade and expansion of the Emergency Centre at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. This concert is also in support of freelance musicians and live classical music in and around Cape Town.

The first half of the programme will feature Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals conducted by Brandon Phillips and performed by a 12-piece orchestra, Nina Schumann and Francois du Toit on two pianos, and narrated by Gloria Bosman. The second half of the programme will feature Gloria Bosman performing four of her favourite songs arranged for an intimate orchestral setting: Imagine, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Time Will Tell and Ntyilo-ntyilo.

Tickets are available through Quicket.
