2-11 March: Various Woordfees productions with Myles Roberts (flute) – Stellenbosch.

5, 6, 7, 8, March at 7am (in the mornings): ‘Khoi’npsalms’ investigate, in sound, the meeting of Khoi music and Genevan psalms as an imagined re-sounding of history at the Cape: Marietjie Pauw (flute), Garth Erasmus (blik’nsnaar, bow and sax), Francois Blom (organ). The event is free and takes place in Rynse Kerk in Stellenbosch central (5/03), Langstraat VGK Cloetesville (6/03), St Mark’s in Idas Valley (7/03) and Moederkerk in Stellenbosch central (8/03). Folk Baroque – at the US Woordfees Stellenbosch: Camerata Tinta Barocca presents a programme of Baroque music inspired by and based on folk songs and dances. The programme, performed on period instruments, includes Barsanti’s arrangements of Scottish airs, Geminiani’s trio sonatas based on Scottish folk songs, Scarlatti’s sonatas influenced by Spanish folk music, early 17th-century Italian dances and a lament by the most famous late 18th-century Scottish folk fiddler, Niel Gow.

The Trio Esperanza is a combination of Liesl Stoltz (flute), Polina Burdukova (cello), and Kerryn Wisniewski (piano), all critically acclaimed musicians who have been successfully performing together and separately around the country and abroad. Histoire du Tango,

at the Greyton Genadendal Classics for All Festival

The Zomari Duo of guitarist James Grace and flautist Bridget Rennie-Salonen present “Histoire du Tango”, a varied recital for flute and guitar, revolving around Astor Piazzolla’s iconic work L’histoire du tango. Also featured on the programme are works by Brazilian composer Celso Machado, and Argentinean Mximo Diego Pujol.
