Thank You

To be able to share in the centenary celebration of Stellenbosch University has been a great privilege and honour. One hundred years is a period to be reckoned with pride in the life of an educational institution and is indeed a marvellous and exceptional achievement and an occasion worth being proudly celebrated.

As we reflect on the past year of the Endler Concert Series, we celebrate the many exceptional artists both local and from around the world that have performed on the Endler stage, soloists: Antonio Pompa Baldi, Luis Magalhães, Nina Schumann, Bryan Wallick, Neal Stulberg, José Dias, Pieter Grobler (piano); Nikita Borisglebsky, Alissa Margulis (violin); Alexander Buzlov, Peter Martens (cello); Roxane Steffen, Mariechen Meyer (bass); Mario Nell, Winand Grundling (organ); Doug Masek (saxophone); Lauren Dasappa (soprano), Minette du Toit-Pearce, Jolene McCleland (mezzo soprano), Thato Machona (tenor), Makudupanyane Senoana, Christian Bester (baritone); Gloria Bosman, Babalwa Mentjies, Zinzi Carolissen, Mynhardt Kruger (jazz singers); chamber ensembles: Signum String Quartet and the Cape Town Philharmonic Wind Quintet; and Rising South African Stars: Sulayman Human (piano), Myles Roberts (flute), David Bester (violin), Avanti Duo: Sally Minter (flute) and Coila-Leah Enderstein (piano). Our Music Department students have excelled in the various ensemble performances of the SU Chamber Choir, SU Choir, Schola Cantorum, SU Symphony Orchestra, SU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, SU Jazz Band, and the SU Camerata. Our student composers have showcased their creativity and innovation in the KOMPOS concerts with new compositions for piano and a new art song collection. We have also been fortunate to host international touring productions and ensembles such as the staff and students from the Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas who presented the opera Wading Home; the choirs: Neuer Kammerchor Berlin (who competed at the World Choir Games), the Junger Kammerchor Lucente; as well as the Rheinland-Pflaz Youth Orchestra who were on tour in South Africa and Botswana from Germany. In 2018 we were also co-hosts for the Les Amateurs Virtuoses Piano Festival.

Without the support of those who share our love for music, our commitment to excellence, innovation and community engagement, and to supporting the growth of young South African musicians, the Endler Concert Series would be hard-pressed to achieve its mission. We extend our grateful thanks to the many individuals, subscribers, entities, and small businesses who offer financial support and gifts-in-kind.

Bedankings
