Unplugged live concerts in Cape Town – March 2019

Dear Music Lovers

While our listings for Cape Town and the southern suburbs are already jam packed- March encourages us to reach out to Stellenbosch and beyond as the annual arts festivals get under way with the incredible Woordfees. Running from 1 – 12 March, this festival grows each year with a full array of music, art, poetry, theatre, dance and more all around Stellenbosch University.  The Concert Series at La Motte in Franschhoek continues on 16 March with Trio de Classique, and a new concert series launches at the Old Nectar Gardens on 23/24. Bookings are also open for KKNK in April, Greyton Classics for All in May and the Hermanus Fynarts in June.  There are also a handful of tickets left for the annual picnic extravaganza of Starlight Classics at Vergelegen this coming Friday and Saturday.

Local highlights include Swingtime at the Silos, Last Night at the Proms, Songmakers’ Guild, a special piano recital with Olga Kern at the Baxter, a concert of young piano proteges,a series of music and dance improvisation sessions and much more.

For your classical fix, remember Fine Music Radio is now broadcasting not only on 101.3fm but via channel 838 on DSTV and via the web at www.fmr.co.za. They also have an online calender and diary listings every morning at 8.30am as well as interviews with artists every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12 midday. They are a wonderful community radio station- please do tune in and support when you can.

The SACollege of Music at UCT is now in full swing. They have concerts every Tuesday -where you can see the stars of tomorrow as well as return visits from alumni – on 26 March international star tenor Levy Sekgapane will be in recital with Jeremy Silver.  Download their brochure here: http://bit.ly/2GKeGkz and all bookings are done through www.webtickets.co.za

This – and much more – as always more details can be found from facebook, FMR, whatsonincapetown.co.za, Computicket, Webtickets and Quicket.

So whether it’s a big gala or an intimate recital – do make a date with live music this March

Kind regards
