Dear Music Lovers
It is hard to believe we are almost half way through the year – I hope you have enjoyed some of my classical highlights so far, as May continues with a wonderful selection of chamber music experiences.
Erin Hall in Rondebosch have six concerts to choose from this month, including a special mixed concert featuring musicians from the Cape Philharmonic performing chamber music, and Songmakers’ Guild continues its 25 years celebrations.
First Thursdays tonight as always has a mix of live music and art. Cape Town Opera continue their behind the scenes on Bree St, and there will be a chamber jam at Movable Feast (the old Rafikis). This will be a pitch and play for classical musicians – a great way to see how chamber music evolves.
The UCT opera department join with Cape Town Opera for 4 performances of Bellini’s- i Capuleti e i Montecchi – a political love story filled with passion and depth – which is at Artscape on 14,15,17 & 18 May.
The Cape Town Concert Series presents two award winning new generation artists – Junnan Sun and Megan-Geoffrey Prins in a recital of clarinet and piano.
For this – and much more – details can be found on facebook, FMR, whatsonincapetown, Computicket, Webtickets and Quicket.
