CANCELLED Unplugged Live Concerts in Cape Town – March 2020

Dear Music Lovers

This month’s Unplugged features not only a host Cape Town concerts but also some wonderful winelands highlights.

The ever expanding Woordfees in Stellenbosch begins on March 6 with a huge array of concerts of all styles, as well as theatre, art, literature and more. Well worth a drive out to Stellenbosch if you can. For all details visit:

La Motte Concert Series continues on 14 March with renowned South African violinist Zanta Hofmeyr accompanied by Bulgarian pianist Ilya Radoslavov in a programme of Brahms Sonatas for violin and piano.

Stanford Valley Hotel hosts a special concert on 21 March with noted pianist Melvin Tan. He will perform two concerts on the same day – 14h30 and 18h30. Food and accommodation can also be arranged.

Closer to home highlights include – A brand new series beginning this Sunday 1st March in Durbanville with Francois du Toit and Albie van Schalkwyk; the National Youth Music Competition’s previous winner Cameron Williams on clarinet with guitarist Joshua Frank at Erin Hall on March 7, and the UCT strings ensemble concert on March 10 featuring soloists from their faculty plus guest violinist Samson Diamond.

The Cape Town Concert Series features an international ensemble of young musicians led by Alexander Gilman on 21 March and soprano Pumeza Matshikiza visits South Africa for a special Duet Gala concert at Kirstenbosch on March 22 with Cape Town Opera and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.  Both are also busy with two concert performances of Fidelio to celebrate 250 years of Beethoven on March 27 and 29.
